The Last of Us Has the Longest Naughty Dog Campaign Yet

“Easily the longest campaign Naughty Dog has ever made.

Naughty Dog has recently spoken to the PlayStation Blog, showcasing their extremely high hopes for The Last of Us. Their latest game set a post-apocalyptic world, where a virus has taken over a majority of the world’s population. Having recently delayed the game till June, Creative Director, Neil Druckman didn’t hold back expressing his excitement for their new intellectual property.

Within his words, one of the biggest questions Last of Us fans have been asking, is given more detail. “How long will The Last of Us campaign take to complete”?

“The Last of Us is an ambitious project. In many ways it may be Naughty Dog’s most ambitious project to date – brand new universe and cast of characters, brand new tech, brand new genre, not to mention it’s easily the longest campaign Naughty Dog has ever made.”

Naughty Dog has been known for their short, but extremely sweet campaign’s in the Uncharted series. But from the looks of it, Last of Us will not follow suit. With the Uncharted series averaging a 9 hour campaign (, if it “easily” is Naughty Dog’s longest campaign, we could be looking at a fairly lengthy experience.

“As we entered the final phase of development for The Last of Us, we came to realize just how massive Joel and Ellie’s journey is. But instead of cutting corners or compromising our vision, we came to the tough decision that the game deserved a few extra weeks to ensure every detail of The Last of Us was up to Naughty Dog’s internal high standards.”

Naughty Dog seem to have their sights set on creating an amazing experience, some developers may have kept going under the pressure, despite the game not being 100%. But in true premiere fashion, Naughty Dog decided to delay the game. Those few extra weeks in development might only add a slight boost to the game overall experience, but only the top development talent decide to spend that extra time polishing the finished product.

The Last of Us will be on store shelves, this June 14 exclusively for PlayStation 3.
