Next-Generation ‘Deus Ex’ Title Announced

Eidos Montreal has announced Deus: Ex Universe, which will be a series of connected entries into the Deus Ex franchise covering medium’s such as graphic novels, books and gaming.

Alongside this information we were also given a confirmed release date for Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut which will hit Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC on October 22 in North America and October 25 in Europe and Australia.

Eidos Montreal Head David Anfossi announced these details within a Community blog post. Anfossi stated that the Deus Ex universe is a “ongoing, expanding and connected game world”, in-which Deus Ex: Universe can allow them to “deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis.”

Deus Ex: Universe will include PC and console games, but also additional Deus Ex games and experiences available in other media such as tablets, smartphones, books, graphic novels, etc.”

Anfossi went on to confirm the existence of a next generation and PC title in the Deus Ex: Universe, being developed by the same team that developed Human Revolution.

“I’m pleased to confirm that we are already into production of the starting point for Deus Ex: Universe with a new game for PC and next-generation consoles. We’re very excited about it at the studio and I wanted to let you know that most of the team behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution is already working hard on this new game. It took us four years to learn how to create a unique Deus Ex experience with Human Revolution and it was important for me to keep this knowledge within the franchise.”

Alongside the announcements Anfossi also left us with a piece of concept art from next generation title. The concept art in question was described as representation of “trans-humanism segregation” that will be a backdrop for the game’s vision.

“It represents a “ghetto-city’ voluntarily built in order to separate the classes. The people in this segregated class have reshaped their environment, nostalgic for their ideal of Cyber Renaissance. This dark and dystopian vision sets the tone for things to come in Deus Ex.”

The development on the next generation Deus Ex is still early on, and Anfossi confirmed Eidos Montreal wasn’t willing to release anymore details “just yet”.

Are you excited to hear Deus Ex will be coming to next generation hardware? Happy to hear a AAA console follow-up exists? Let us know in the comments below.
