‘Last of Us’ Voice Actor Claims He Knows Nothing Regarding a Sequel

Troy Baker, the voice of Joel from The Last of Us has denied any knowledge of a sequel to the critically game.

During a recent Q&A panel at Indy PopCon, a fan asked Baker where the story would go if there was a sequel (7.27 in the video above).

“I know nothing. I don’t know if we’re gonna do another one or not,” Baker said. “If we do, then I trust Neil [Druckmann] and Bruce [Straley] and everyone at Naughty Dog to tell a story that needs to be told.”

Baker went onto say that The Last of Us could stand on its on, in a similar fashion to the critically acclaimed Journey. Though if a sequel was created, Baker explains he would love to see Naughty Dog further explore Joel’s past.

“When you go from the prologue and then credits, and cut to twenty years later, you see a completely different guy,” Baker said when discussing his thoughts on a potential time period. Explaining that seeing Joel’s journey throughout those unseen twenty years could be interesting.

It was only yesterday that Nolan North (voice of Nathan Drake) openly stated The Last of Us 2 existed, and while Baker’s denial seems to dispute those claims, we know nothing for sure. Even if The Last of Us 2 did exist, it makes sense that Baker couldn’t confirm the project due to legal documentation, such as an NDA. Or perhaps the sequel may follow new characters?

Until Analog Addiction hears more, we can only speculate. Let AA know if you want a sequel to The Last of Us below.
