Gamescom: ‘Velocity 2X’ Announced For PlayStation 4 & Vita

FuturLab announced a PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4 sequel to the teleportation shoot’em-up Velocity.

Velocity 2X combines puzzle-platforming, alongside the top-down shoot’em-up gameplay from the original game. Players take control of the teleporting Quarp Jet, as they try to outsmart enemies, survive space combat, dock their ship and run around on foot to infiltrate enemy space stations.

“Velocity struck a chord with gamers for its innovative combination of gameplay mechanics,” said James Marsden, the Managing Director at FuturLab. “Our aim with Velocity 2X is to take players on a similar journey of discovery. We’re confident that the combination of features we’re creating across two classic gameplay formats will be thrilling for fans of Velocity, and should hopefully encourage newcomers to try our particular brand of twitchy fun.”

No specific gameplay details were release, however it was revealed Velocity 2X will be playable at the upcoming Eurogamer Expo in September.
