FIFA Sells 7.4 Million in 4 Weeks

Remember when we told you FIFA 13 had over one million pre-orders? Then when we told you it sold 4.5 million copies in 5 days? Almost 1 million copies per day were sold, within that first week. Well it has now been 4 weeks and now every single person in the entire world owns a copy, well, maybe not everyone but the game has sold 7.4 million copies, which is nothing to sneeze at.

These figures shared by EA (And why wouldn’t you!) exclude mobile downloads and has given FIFA 13 the title of “biggest sports launch of all-time”. EA happily reports from within their gold brick mansions, that FIFA “debuted as one of the two top-selling titles in September in the Western World”. These impressive numbers are also followed by extremely positive sales of this year’s Madden iteration.

These figures were release from EA’s second quarter earnings report of the 2013 fiscal year, which the company was able to reveal that the digital revenue of FIFA franchised exceeded $155 million within just the first half of this fiscal year. These figures have included the sales of FIFA Online 2 and FIFA World Class Soccer.

FIFA 13 released in the United States this September 25th, with the international version released on September 29. With next generation consoles rumoured for holiday season 2013, how will the inevitable FIFA 14 compete with these numbers?
