FIFA Sells 4.5 Million Copies in 5 Days
Have you purchased EA’s release, latest FIFA Soccer 13? I think you may have. EA announced today with dollar signs in their eyes that FIFA has sold 4.5 million copies in the first five days of sale, so much for gamers going missing these days. EA has stated this is the biggest launch so far in 2012, but also the biggest sports video game launch of all time.
The UK alone provided 1.23 million of the copes sold; this makes FIFA the second franchise to ever sell more than one million copies in the first 24 hours on UK shelves. Not surprisingly FIFA was ranked number one in 40 countries, with the highest peak of online players simultaneously reaching 800,000. This gave FIFA “the busiest day for online gaming for a single title in EA history.” With more than 66 million online games played and 600 million minutes of online play, there is definitely a few of you playing online.
EA Sports executive vice president Andrew Wilson had this to say in-between counting truckloads of money. “FIFA Soccer 13 is a critical and commercial success unprecedented in sports entertainment. Every minute of every day millions of fans around the world are experiencing what the critics have already said— FIFA Soccer 13 is the biggest and best sports game we have ever created.”
EA now has enough money to buy all these countries
Launching on September 25 in the US, FIFA 13 sold 353,000 copies in the first 24 hours; this was before its international launch of September 29. The numbers may continue to rise as the Wii U version will launch alongside the system on November 18.
