‘Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture’ Trailer, New Details
Last year at Gamescom it was revealed The Chinese Room was developing an exclusive PlayStation 4 title, called Everybody’s Gone to Rapture. After almost a year of silence, The Chinese Room has finally given us some more information regarding this alluring title, alongside a new trailer.
Everybody’s Gone to Rapture will be a story-driven title, which will be set in a remote valley in June of 1984. Rapture will focus on telling a story about people and how they live with one another, but it also about the end of the world; in this case – the rapture.
Rapture has been expired by the fiction of John Wyndham, J. G. Ballard, John Christopher and other authors who deal with extraordinary events. The Chinese Room wants to focus on the many people who have perished in a post-apocalyptic world, rather than focus on a singular hero.
Taking place in Yaughton Valley, The Chinese Room hopes to provide a living and breathing world, where it isn’t just the backdrop for your experience, it is its own character. This open-world adventure is completely that, open-world. If you want to travel one way you may, nothing determines your path and exploration is encouraged to provide your own story in Rapture.
Making choices in the world of Rapture will also directly impact the story, though it hasn’t been revealed how these impacts will be showcased. Everybody’s Gone to Rapture will be an emotionally intimate experience, with those who interact and explore the most finding themselves drawn deeper into the world.
Everybody’s Gone to Rapture looks to be heading towards a release in 2015, exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
