E3 2016: First Person Shooter ‘Farpoint’ Announced for PlayStation VR

Impulse Gear has announced Farpoint for PlayStation VR.

Farpoint is a first person shooter launching exclusively on PlayStation VR. Farpoint takes players to a hostile alien world where they must fight to survive and uncover the planet’s secrets. Players must continue to explore the planet after crash landing, in hopes of finding out what happened to your team.

Impulse Gear has worked closely with Sony Interactive Entertainment to develop Farpoint, which included developing a whole new way to enjoy virtual reality, with the PS VR Aim Controller. Players can use the Aim Controller to control Farpoint in what Impulse Gear has said is the most “realistic and precise” way to play, with “direct 1-to-1 tracking” as players aim in the real world.

Impulse Gear is an independent developer based in San Francisco, founded to create virtual reality games that would live up to the expectations of gamers.

No release window for Farpoint has been revealed at this stage, or if it will launch alongside PlayStation VR in October, but AA will update when we have the latest regarding this first person VR experience.
