‘DuckTales Remastered’ & ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara’
During the PAX East convention over the weekend, Capcom ended their panel by unveiling three returning titles from its back catalogue – DuckTales Remastered, Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom and Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow of Mystara.
Released in 1989 on the Nintendo Entertainment System, DuckTales is a beloved game from thhe generation. Following the adventures of Scrooge McDuck, DuckTales Remastered will take the original level layouts from the 1989 release as they expand upon the titles audio and visuals.
All the visuals of the original game has been recreated as hand drawn animation sprites, across the re-envisioned 3D backgrounds. Even the original Disney Character Voices return, including some from the cartoon TV series to bring back the unique charm of the original. DuckTales Remastered will also feature the original soundtrack with a new modern twist, all new tutorial level and Scrooge McDuck’s Museum where players can compare their states and progress via global leaderboards.
Capcom also announced the HD remakes of Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom and Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow of Mystara. Which will be released as a double pack entitled Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara, which will include many enhancements on the original arcade versions.
As in the original arcade version, up to four players will be able to work together to defeat the mystical beasts in the Dungeons & Dragons universe. Offering seamless drop-in/drop-out online gameplay throughout the games two modes, classic arcade mode reproduces the branching paths and multiple endings; while House Rules allows players to customise their game for a completely different experience.
Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara will also track statistics using the Character Visualiser to create a balanced dungeon party system, it will also include a Challenge feature allowing players to complete tasks for level-ups and coins. These coins can be spent in the Vault, where the games unlockable content and gameplay loot will be available. Wii U will also have exclusive GamePad functionality, allowing players to select spells and items with ease using the GamePad’s touch screen.
WayForward are developing DuckTales Remastered for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and the Wii U eShop to be released this Summer. While Iron Galaxy are developing Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara, which will release this June on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, PC and the Wii U eShop for $14.99/€14.99/£11.99/1200MSP.
