‘Disney Infinity 3.0’ Announced, Featuring Star Wars, Avengers: Age of Ultron
Disney Interactive has officially announced Disney Infinity 3.0, the next installment in the Disney Infinity franchise. The latest iteration in the franchise will, for the first time, bring Star Wars characters to the series, as well as characters from The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
The Disney Infinity 3.0 Starter Pack will include the Disney Infinity 3.0 Base and game, the Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic Play Set, Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker character figures, and a web code card that unlocks content for PC and mobile devices. All extra Disney Infinity 3.0 Play Sets, figures and more will be sold separately from the Starter Pack.
Good news for Disney Infinity fans who have created a large collection of figures over the years, each 1.0 and 2.0 character and Power Disc will be compatible with Disney Infinity 3.0.
The Disney Infinity 3.0 Starter Pack will include the Disney Infinity 3.0 Base and video game software, the Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic Play Set, Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker character figures, and a web code card that unlocks content for PC and mobile devices. Other Disney Infinity 3.0 Play Sets, figures, and Toy Box Expansion Games will be sold separately.
Disney Infinity 3.0 will include three Star Wars Play Sets, with one set in the timeline of Episodes I-III, the second set during the original trilogy, and the third based on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Additional Play Sets will also be released, which will include a Play Set based on the upcoming Disney/Pixar film Inside Out, and a Marvel themed Play Set which will feature the Hulkbuster Iron Man, Ultron, and other non-disclosed Marvel characters.
Each Star Wars Play Set will offer a distinct experience. The Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic Play Set will take place during the height of Jedi’s powers and include the Force and Lightsaber battles. While the Star Wars: Rise Against the Empire Play Set will allow players to pilot iconic vehicles like the X-wing or Millennium falcon, while exploring iconic locales such as Tatooine, Hoth and Endor.
Star Wars fan will also be able to control a range of iconic Star Wars characters, such as Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and more.
The Toy Box will also be receiving some new additions, with two new multiplayer Expansion Games. The first of which is Toy Box Speedway, a kart racing mode, and the second called Toy Box Takeover, which is more of an action-adventure experience. Disney Infinity 3.0 will also debut a range of new playable characters, such as Mulan, Olaf, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Sam Flynn and Quorra from Tron: Legacy; with of course, many more yet to be revealed.
Disney Infinity 3.0 will also feature a new 3-D Toy Box Hub, in order to make reaching the wide selection of gameplay experiences easier. These will include the two previously mentioned Toy Box Expansion Games, plus platform, racing and farming simulation games.
Disney Infinity 3.0 is being developed by a large range of developers. Ninja Theory will be developing the Lightsaber combat, Sumo Digital is developing an improved racing and driving experiences, while United Front Games will be developing The Avengers: Age of Ultron Play Set.
Disney Infinity 3.0 will launch this Winter in Australia and New Zealand for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U, PC and for iOS, and Android devices.
