Dead Space 3, Better with Kinect?

Between friends I jokingly suggested the announcement of Dead Space 3 containing Kinect voice functionality, I of course was throwing around suggestions that I thought would never occur. So either I am the world’s greatest mind reader, or Microsoft owe me money. Either way Dead Space 3 has now been confirmed to support Kinect voice commands, the first co-op game to ever contain voice control options.

This is another big move for the franchise, as this is the first game in the series to allow a cooperative campaign and now, the first in the series to feature Kinect. Kinect will be used to inform your partner of several key aspects of gameplay, for example, if you are in need of reviving, need more health or ammo or simply to help guide each other to objectives.

“The voice commands in Dead Space 3 give players a unique way to take down the terror, whether they choose to face the Necromorphs alone in single-player, or alongside a friend with drop-in / drop-out co-op,” stated Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer on Dead Space 3 and VP, General Manager of Visceral Games. “Dead Space 3 delivers the action-horror experience our fans have come to know and love. And with the ability to survive the adventure alone, with a friend, or with Kinect, we’re excited about extending the spine-tingling Dead Space experience to a whole new audience of players.”

This is only a slight taste of Dead Space 3 news we have been given lately, with a brand new trailer released yesterday showing off the different aspects of single and multiplayer campaign playthrough’s.

Dead Space 3 will be available February 5 in North America, February 7 in Australia and February 8 in Europe and New Zealand for Xbox 360, Play Station 3 and PC.
