‘Dead Rising 3’ Will Receive SmartGlass Only Missions

Xbox One players using the Xbox SmartGlass companion application will receive exclusive missions in Dead Rising 3.

Dead Rising 3‘s executive producer, Josh Bridge has revealed details behind these SmartGlass missions to Siliconera.

“After you launch the [SmartGlass] app, it notices that Dead Rising is currently being played, press a button, and in kicks our phone. It actually skins your phone to be like the phone from the game’s universe,”

He clarified that these missions will only appear if players are using the companion app, “you’ll get calls from a character that are only on the SmartGlass device. So if you don’t have SmartGlass, you won’t get those calls from that guy. Which also means you won’t get those missions.”

Bridge assured players will be able to complete the games main story without SmartGlass, but using the app will just add extra content.

“His storyline is his own. And it interweaves with the main storyline. Without it, you’re not losing out on what the story is. But you’re getting more out of the game,”

Dead Rising 3 was revealed at Microsoft’s E3 presentation this year, and will release exclusively on Xbox One this holiday season.
