Could ‘Xbox Event’ Site Be Microsoft’s Next Generation Reveal?
Next Xbox reveal closer than we think?
When is Microsoft announcing the next Xbox? The question has been on everyone’s mind since Sony announced the PlayStation 4 this week, with no hint from Microsoft on the unveiling of their next generation console everything is speculation. Though a new domain registry, could hint that the reveal is closer than we think.
WHOIS Data has found a new domain called XboxEvent.com was register yesterday by U.S. Techs, who recently re-branded as Eventcore. The company is known for providing “advanced, customized solutions in the event management industry.” Why so interesting? Anyone could register this domain, but when you look closer some interesting facts are revealed.
Those keen eyes over on NeoGAF spotted that U.S. Techs were also behind the registering of XboxE312.com, which was used by Microsoft last year for their E3 press conference. They also registered Microsoft’s 2013 Hosting Summit website, which clearly state at the bottom of the page “this site is hosted for Microsoft by U.S. Techs”.
IGN reached out to Microsoft for further comment on this domain registry and was provided with the following statement.
“Microsoft often acquires various domain names as part of its ongoing business strategy, but beyond that we have no comment.”
But even if they did register this domain for the next Xbox unveiling, there is no way they would tell us now. So this could definitely be alluding to an event to reveal the next Xbox, but when? Well CVG and The Verge are claiming industry sources think April is the most likely scenario. With Sony planting their foot squarely on next generation, all eyes are on Microsoft as we await their entry.
