Character Transformations Removed From ‘Super Smash Bros.’ 3DS, Wii U

Super Smash Bros. Director, Masahiro Sakurai, has announced that character transformation have been removed for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U. Instead of transformations these characters will now be separate playable characters.

The announcement was made during the Super Smash Bros. themed Nintendo Direct, where two transformations were confirmed to be playable characters – Zero Suit Samus and Sheik. Both these transformations will be playable alongside their original counterparts, Samus and Zelda.

These alterations have meant these characters have been improved in specific ways. Zero Suit Samus was originally designed to have slightly less physical strength, which has meant there has been improvements to her power. She will also be wearing a pair of jet boots, which will help her traverse each stage; it was also announced Sheik would be receiving new two new special moves.

Zero Suit Samus and Sheik are the 25th and 26th characters announced respectively, alongside the latest announced character, Yoshi. The release window for both the 3DS and Wii U iterations of Super Smash Bros. have also been announced.
