‘Battlefield 4’ Officially Unveiled Alongside 17 Minutes of Gameplay
Battlefield 4 has been officially revealed and will run on DICE’s proprietary Frostbite 3 engine, for an North American Autumn 2013 release.
Battlefield 4 multiplayer design elements will be incorporated into the games single-player campaign, offering players huge a “playground of destruction“. Players will have access to an arsenal of vehicles and the ability to direct squad mates, the single-player campaign will also tracks players progress adding friendly competition between players.
Officially unveiled alongside a 17 minute gameplay demo entitled, “Fishing in Baku”. We were shown as the player – Recker- opens his eyes to discover he is trapped inside a sinking car with three squad mates.
“Today’s demo was just the beginning — we have so much more in store,” said Patrick Soderlund, Executive Vice President, EA Games Label. “It is thrilling to witness peoples’ reaction when seeing the game for the first time. It really makes you realize that we are at the beginning of a whole new era for gaming.”
Battlefield 4 pre-orders are now available, offering players a Premium expansion pack at no extra cost. DICE also announced the exclusive Origin Digital Deluxe edition, giving players in-game digital items, the Premium expansion pack and access to the Battlefield 4 multiplayer beta.
Surprisingly there is no talk of next-generation, with EA confirming that the company is currently only talking about PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Leading up to the official reveal Battlefield 4‘s release window and screenshots were both leaked.
