‘Batman: Arkham Origins’ Mobile Title Announced

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have announced Batman: Arkham Origins for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. The mobile title will launch on these devices during the console game launch window, with a Android version to follow in the near future.

Batman: Arkham Origins is being developed by NetherRealm Studios, and will offer a free-to-play brawler for Batman fans. NetherRealm Studios has worked with DC property’s for mobile devices before, following successful releases of Injustice: Gods Among Us and Batman: Arkham City Lockdown.

Players will take control of the Dark Knight as he battles against a number of DC Comics’ deadly enemies, in some dangerous locales. Batman can be upgraded and also has a number of unlockable suits for players to earn, alongside in-game currency and rewards.

Warner Bros. has also confirmed players who own the console version of Origins and are registered for a Warner Bros. ID (WBID) account will be able to access exclusive content.

“We created an integrated gaming ecosystem between the Batman: Arkham Origins mobile and console games, which delivers rewards and unlocks that provide greater experiences for players,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios.  “The mobile game goes hand-in-hand with what is offered on the other platforms.”

Batman: Arkham Origins will release on October 25 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. Alongside Batman: Arkham Origins – Blackgate for PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS; you can read out full impressions of the handheld title here.
