‘Alien: Isolation’ Oculus Rift Support Only a “Prototype”
During E3 this year attendees were able to experience an Alien: Isolation Oculus Rift prototype, allowing players to be fully situated in the world utilising the head-tracking abilities of the Oculus Rift.
Though many thought this prototype would indeed be development for the virtual reality hardware after receiving such high praise from the E3 show floor, it turns out the experience was exactly that – a prototype.
Developers of Alien: Isolation, Creative Assembly, responded to a query regarding the Oculus Rift prototype, in-which they stated that there will be no full game version.
@xopsx @VRBrighton @TheMightyGit @Pipsissiwa What we've got at the moment with @oculus is a prototype, there's no full game in dev 🙂 — Alien: Isolation (@AlienIsolation) July 7, 2014
The new information may leave fans disappointed, but just because it isn’t in development at this time doesn’t mean it won’t ever exist. With such high praise from E3 and fans clamouring for a full version, or at least the demo itself being made available, we never know what the future may hold.
The Oculus Rift-less version of Alien: Isolation will release October 7 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
