5.7 Million PlayStation 4 Consoles Sold During the 2015 Holiday Season

Sony Computer Entertainment have announced 5.7 million PlayStation 4 units were sold during the 2015 holiday season.


The updated figures raise the total number of PlayStation 4 console sold through to the consumer to over 35.9 million worldwide, as of January 3, 2016. The last PlayStation 4 sales update Sony provided was during November, when it was revealed the PlayStation 4 had sold over 30 million units.

Sony also revealed more than 35 million copies of software were sold in retail and through digital downloads over the holiday season. Additionally 60% more users subscribed to PlayStation Plus compared to the same period of time last year.

“We are absolutely delighted that so many customers have selected PS4 as the best place to play throughout this holiday season and that the PS4 community is growing more than ever,” said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to deliver innovative entertainment experiences, and look forward to bringing an unprecedented games portfolio from third party developers and publishers and SCE Worldwide Studios, including Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Horizon Zero Dawn and The Last Guardian, this coming year.”
